Whitsett proposal would regulate Twitter

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Ever heard of “flash mob tweets?” A new bill has been put before Oregon lawmakers by Senator Doug Whitsett of Klamath Falls that would create the brand new crime of “aggravated solicitation” for sending out inappropriate tweets. There is concern that people have been coordinating flash mobs on Twitter and stealing things. Several people agree via social networking to show up at a specific time and location to commit robberies. Critics of the measure say curtailing tweets violates free speech.
