Jeweler helps catch suspected burglars

Klamath County Jail

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Two are arrested and booked into the Klamath County Jail following an attempt to sell stolen items to a local jeweler. It is suspected that the jewelry they attempted to sell was allegedly stolen from a residence in Poe Valley.

Kevin Wade Zimmerman, 32, of Klamath Falls, and Mattio Angelo Zanotto, 54, of Yreka, were booked into the Klamath County Jail on charges of first-degree aggravated theft, first-degree burglary, and two charges each of criminal conspiracy.

Both men were held on $100,000 bail.

Here is a quote from Ray Holliday, owner of Holliday Jewelry: “Yesterday afternoon a customer called us and told us she had been robbed, her husband called 911, she called us. My sales person that took the call recognized the jewelry from a gold buy we were doing at that time. We positively identified the jewelry and called 911 and then stalled until the officers arrived and they arrested 2 guys that they think might be responsible for a string of robberies at businesses and homes in the area. Made for a very exciting afternoon. We buy quite a bit of gold and do our best not to buy stolen goods. It is the second arrest we have facilitated in 5 months”.
