YREKA, Cal. – Detectives with the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Department are trying to figure out who would break into the Siskiyou County courthouse and steal gold from a display case. The theives made off with about $3 million worth of historic gold nuggets that were part of a collection that sampled most of the mines in the county. The sheriff’s office has been stern in saying both the county and its history have been robbed, and detectives won’t rest until they apprehend the theives. Two men were caught on surveillance video, but so far no arrests.
