Lakeview gets big bucks for forest project



LAKEVIEW, Ore. – Lakeview is getting $35 million in federal funding to put toward restoration work in the Fremont-Winema National Forest. Lakeview Stewardship Landscape will get $3.5 million per year for ten years to fund a project that thins overcrowded forest land. Local officials say it may be the biggest economic boost the county has ever seen. The funds rely on federal approval each year.
