KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – An ODOT worker lost his gas card, and 38-year old Eric Barnhart was arrested Wednesday on accusations that he used it to sell thousands of dollars worth of discounted gas to motorists at Pacific Pride stations. Officials think between Jan. 5 and Jan. 11, Barnhart approached motorists and offered to buy gas on the credit card, then they paid him $2 per gallon. At the time, gas was averaging in the $3.40′s. Police think Barnhart sold as much as 1,800 gallons of gas. ODOT is tightening up the handling of its gas cards, and Barnhart is in the Klamath County Jail.
