Oregon tops in women’s track & field poll

NEW ORLEANS — The University of Oregon women’s track & field team is ranked number one in Tuesday’s National Computer Team Rankings released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTEFCCCA).

Oregon earned 197.22 points in the poll, nearly 50 better than second-ranked Louisiana State.  Arkansas, Clemson and Texas round out the top five.

The Ducks won both Jan. 14 UW Indoor Preview in Seattle and the Blue and Orange Opener in Nampa, Idaho.

No. 12 Arizona is the next highest-ranked Pac-12 team, with fellow conference teams Arizona State and Stanford earning No. 21 and No. 24 spots.

Meanwhile, the Oregon men are No. 19 in the men’s poll, behind the Pac-12′s highest-seeded team, No. 10 Arizona.

Arkansas is atop the poll followed by Florida, Louisiana State, Florida State and Texas.

The Oregon teams go back to the track Jan. 27-28 at the Texas A&M Mondo Challenge.
