Gems win Chamber award



KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The Klamath County Chamber of Commerce recently honored the Klamath Falls Gems with the 2011 Business of the Year award. The Gems have four local owners and a two-person staff, and thanked the thousands of fans who came out to see the games. The Gems set the West Coast League single-game attendance record on July 22, with a paid attendance of 4,156 and won 19 games, a record for first year teams. The Gems also helped to raise nearly $25,000 for area causes like the Klamath and Lake Counties food bank and Children’s Miracle Network. The new season starts June 1.
