KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — Oregon Tech jumped on visiting College of Idaho early and rode momentum for a 64-46 Cascade Conference victory Saturday at Danny Miles Court as part of OIT’s 2012 Pink Out.
Despite an odd week, with No. 2 OIT’s first game played on Saturday with the postponement of Friday’s contest versus No. 25 Eastern Oregon to Sunday, the Owls were well-prepared for COI, scoring the first 15 points of the game and riding it out to a 29-14 halftime lead.
Freshman Bobby Hunter went 5-of-9 from the floor for a game-high 18 points, hitting 4-of-6 from three. Junior David Clarke was vital to the quick start for OIT, scoring two three-pointers in the first 5:30, finishing with three total for 11 points.
College of Idaho was paced by 12 points from Sydney Donaldson.
Now, the Owls get set for Sunday’s 4:00 PM tip-off with EOU (92.5-FM KLAD) at Danny Miles Court, a place where the Mountineers haven’t won since 1979. Sweeping the weekend will keep OIT atop the Cascade Conference with Warner Pacific, which pulled out an overtime victory at Concordia 90-89.
