Sheriff candidate has a plan for jail

Sheriff's Star

Klamath Falls, OR – The committee to elect Frank Skrah for Klamath County Sheriff has released a plan to free up jail space and save tax dollars. The Day Reporting Centers program isn’t for habitual offenders, the campaign says, and not for those with a history of violent crime. It would be for first time offenders for non-violent crimes like DUIs. After receiving a jail sentence of no more than 90 days, they would be placed in a Day Reporting Center program where they would report to the jail at 8am with a sack lunch, and spend the day doing projects around the community, then back to the jail at 4pm and home for the evening.
