Klamath Falls, OR-Another reminder that several new laws take effect this Sunday, January 1. Current cell phone laws in Oregon allow drivers to talk on the phone as long as it’s work-related, but that loophole closes in 2012. The new law allows only emergency responders and roadside assistance workers to use a handheld phone. Another new law going into effect Sunday applies to drunk drivers. Those convicted will have to get a breath-test machine installed in their car.
